Spring 2019 Classes

On-site art classes are offered throughout the year in a variety of media for all ages and levels of training. Together with our professional artist/educators, students explore the creative process in a supportive and experimental environment, and all classes involve educational experiences in the museum galleries.


MAGICAL HOUSES AND STORYTELLING

Session A: Ages:6-13

Dates & Time: Saturdays, Mar. 30 - May 25 from 10am-1pm (no class 4/20)


Fee: $250 TMA Members, $270 Non-Members


Add narrative to your ceramic creations and let your imagination run wild! Construct sculptures with a variety of hand-building techniques such as pinch and pull, coil, and slab. Use glazes to add finishing touches to your bisque pieces and watch your creations come to life! Intermediate and advanced students will further their understanding of glazing and sculpting methods. Selected projects will be fired throughout the course. Beginners through advanced students welcomed.

MIXED MEDIA PLAYTIME FOR PRE-K

Session B: Ages:3-5

Dates & Time: Mondays, March 25 - May 20 from 10am-11:30pm (no class 4/15)


Fee: $135 TMA Members, $155 Non-Members


Explore and play with an array of art making mediums like watercolors, pastels, modeling clay and more! Students and caregivers will learn the basics of art fundamentals following an age appropriate curriculum that includes gallery exploration.

COLOR ADVENTURES FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

Session C: Ages:6-9

Dates & Time: Thursdays, March 28 - May 23 from 4pm-5:30pm (no class 4/18)


Fee: $135 TMA Members, $155 Non-Members


Dive deep into one of the most important elements of art! With an emphasis in color, students will learn creative techniques in painting, drawing, mixed media and more! Through gallery exploration, students will get inspiration from painter and printmaker Kathryn Metz and digital artist and photographer Sanaz Mazinani.

MONOPRINTING FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

Session D: Ages:6-9

Dates & Time: Wednesdays, March 27 - May 22 from 4pm-5:30pm (no class 4/17)


Session E: Ages:10-13

Dates & Time: Mondays, March 25 - May 20 from 4pm-5:30pm (no class 4/15)


Fee: $135 TMA Members, $155 Non-Members


Monoprinting combines printmaking, painting and drawing techniques in order to create one of a kind printed paintings. Students will continue to learn about the elements and principles of art and draw inspirations from modern and contemporary artists like painter and printmaker Kathryn Metz.
